Comment s’habiller pour pratiquer vos activités hivernales favorites

Ice skating, mountain hiking, skiing, snowboarding, the arrival of the new year is the perfect time to practice all your favorite winter activities alone or with the family. Whether you are a beginner or a novice, the key is to be well dressed. Here are some tips to help you choose the right pieces to make the most of them and have fun during the cold season.

ICE-SKATE

Meet at the skating rink in Michel-Chartand park for a unique experience in a magical setting. To be comfortable throughout the evening, opt for a quilted coat to move easily. No need to spend a fortune on a wind and water resistant down jacket, you’ll find jackets under $150 at retailers like Ardene. Then, make sure you are well covered from head to toe: toque, scarf and mittens are a must. Finally, it is essential to choose pants that are easy to insert into your skates, like leggings. If you wear jeans, we recommend thermal underwear like the one from Helly Hensen available at Sports Experts. In addition to being cute, it allows excellent moisture evacuation thanks to its combination of merino wool and Lifa® fibers.

MOUNTAIN HIKING

Mountain hiking enthusiasts will be delighted with the Mont Saint-Hilaire network of hiking trails, which total nearly 25 kilometers for all levels, from beginners, intermediate to expert. The most important item for practicing this sport is a good pair of warm boots that won’t get wet. We recommend you go to Rubino, they have a variety of boots for the outdoors. On the clothing side, look for pants called softshell  to help keep you protected from the cold and moderate rainfall. We also suggest the fleece sweater from The North Face which combines comfort and performance.

SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING

For a super trendy look , dare a one-piece ski suit in shades of black and white. For the more conventional woman, take inspiration from this influencer uniform by pairing a fitted down jacket like Columbia’s Bird Mountain, designed for long days on the mountain and a pair of black insulated pants, all to keep you warm while your descent from the slopes of Mont Saint-Bruno. A base layer made of merino is also a good lightweight option that offers increased breathability for superior comfort. Don’t forget your ski goggles, a must to protect against wind and sun rays.

BONUS - A VITAMIN SMOOTHIE RECIPE WITH YOGURT, MELON JUICE AND BERRIES

Before a long day outside in winter, what better than to prepare a vitamin smoothie  (thanks IGA) to find all the nutrients and vitamins you need to face the cold. In addition to being a healthy option before doing your favorite winter activities, it will give you extra energy.
